The Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Center for Health Policies and Strategies, has launched a medical diagnosis campaign intended for persons who suffer from cardiovascular diseases. On July 19, a team of specialist doctors went to Drochia, where about 60 patients benefitted from free medical examinations with specialized equipment, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry of Health says the campaign was staged with the aim of increasing the access of persons from risk groups to high-quality medical services, contributing thus to the prophylaxis of acute myocardial infarction.

On July 26, the mobile team Cardio, which consists of experienced cardiologists and medical assistants, will travel to Stefan Voda, while on August 2 – to Leova. Afterward, the second phase of the project will be kicked off and other regions will be selected for free medical consultations.

In Moldova, the incidence of acute myocardial infarction stands at 5/1 000 people a year. More than half of the patients with acute myocardial infarction die during an hour of the start of the symptoms. Some 25% of the sick men and 42% of the sick women die during the next year.
