The fruit growers are profoundly indignant that the draft state budget for this year hasn’t been yet carried. According to them, this delay does not allow them to receive the agricultural subsidies that have been overdue since 2014, when Russia imposed a ban on imports from Moldova. If the state budget is not adopted in the immediate future, the fruit growers intend to stage protests, IPN reports.

In a message to the press, the head of the National Union of Agricultural Producers’ Associations “UniAgroProtect” Alexandru Slusari says that over 100 fruit producers will be able to get the overdue subsidies only after the 2016 state budget is adopted.

“Many of the fruit growers consider that the situation regarding the payment of these compensations represents mockery. They have waited for these payments for almost two years. In the period, the promised money depreciated by about 50%. Many of them suffered as a result of the frosts of April 26-27 this year,” stated Alexandru Slusari.

The 2016 draft state budget law was approved by the Government on May 18. It is to be examined and adopted by Parliament. According to experts, this is the longest delay in adopting the draft budget in the last 20 years.
