Governor of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal said the amounts earmarked for the autonomous unit this year are low, but the state budget must be passed in final reading, regardless of its shortcomings, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“You will find no minister who is satisfied with the amounts allocated to the institutions they head from the state budget. I’m also not satisfied with the allocations for Gagauzia, which are by 18 million lei lower compared with last year. All the officials are concerned about the given issue, but nobody wants to be responsible for certain things,” Mihail Formuzal said in a news conference on Wednesday.
Mihail Formuzal said that even if the money allotted to Gagauzia is insufficient, the region will try to cope by optimizing costs and recovering the overdue taxes from economic entities.
“If we want to have more money in the budget, we must work better and more,” said the Governor. He stressed that the performance of civil servants is poor owing to the low salaries.
Asked to comment on Mihai Ghimpu’s statements that there is no Gagauzia in Moldova, only an autonomous territorial unit, and that the members of the Comrat People’s Assembly have the status of local councilors, Mihail Formuzal said the leader of the PL showed irresponsibility, adding such assertions have immediate repercussions on the residents of Gagauzia and fuel radicalism in the region.
