The visit of the German Chancellor is a truly historic moment, which will profoundly mark the relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal German Republic, and will determine Moldova’s European integration, stated Premier Vlad Filat in his speech at the Republican Palace, reports Info-Prim Neo.
The Premier mentioned that the visit of the German Chancellor happens 20 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations, in a period of unprecedented closeness between our countries, both committed to a European partnership. Vlad Filat highlighted that Moldova is not in Eastern Europe, but right at the heart of Europe. The history, the language, the traditions and values – all recommend a future in which Moldova is completely integrated into the European Union from political, economic, and cultural points of view. The European vision for Moldovan citizens is a vision of democracy and human rights, of more workplaces and investments, of high performance and competition, of new business opportunities and modern agriculture, of the liberty to circulate without barriers within a united Europe.
According to the Prime Minister, Germany is a model country for Moldova, a politically and economically free country, stable and democratic, a powerful voice on the global stage. Germany offers us a good example of economic development, but also of resolution of situations that concern the state’s national and territorial unity.
“Integration into the European Union often means changes, at places painful and difficult, that we must make here, at home. We realize it, but the benefits of European integration justify the effort. We have firmly committed to drawing our country closer to Euro-standards, and today we are under an ample process of political and economic changes. We face difficulties of internal order, but they are not insurmountable. One of them is the territorial reintegration and the exercise of sovereignty throughout the entire national territory. We are grateful for the constant attention that you pay to the resolution of this problem, and for the effort you put into this direction”, addressed Vlad Filat to the German Chancellor.
In the conclusion of his speech Vlad Filat thanked the German Chancellor for her visit to Moldova and assured Angela Merkel that Moldova will remain a loyal partner of Germany, in its efforts to promote democracy throughout the world.
