The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu Friday was questioned by officers of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) over statements he made earlier. Neither Ghimpu nor the head of the Center’s Prosecution Division Bogdan Zumbreanu gave details about the subject on which the questioning centered, IPN reports.
Contacted by journalists after the questioning, Mihai Ghimpu invoked the secrecy of the investigation. “The investigation is investigation. I said many things and they should be verified,” said the Liberal leader.
He only said that the statements refer to persons, but they do not include former Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
Bogdan Zumbreanu told the press that Mihai Ghimpu was investigated within a case received from the Anticorruption Alliance. “It is about statements he made earlier for the press. More investigation actions will follow and we cannot yet make the discussion’s topic public,” he stated, adding that more persons will be questioned in this case.
