The executive has allocated 6 million lei from its reserve fund for buying apartments for the families from Cantemir that remained without homes as a result of an explosion on May 5, IPN reports.

Of the allocated sum, about 800,000 lei will go to demolish the damaged apartment building.

Minister of Regional Development and Construction Vasile Batca said that if a part of the apartments of this bloc can be repaired, these will remain in the housing stock of the District Council. The families that owned these apartments will be unable to use them.

The blast happened in a fourth-floor apartment. As a result of the explosion, three apartments on the third, fourth and fifth floors started to burn, while the ceiling of an apartment from the third floor collapsed. Twenty apartments were damaged in the blast.
