Government increases cold-month assistance

The executive decided to raise the cold-month assistance offered to families on low incomes from 150 lei a month as announced initially to 200 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The compensation will be paid for five months – November through March. According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, about 30,000 families will benefit from such assistance. “It is important that the people file applications. In a previous meeting, there was approved an amendment whereby the deadline for submissions was extended from six months to a year so that all the persons on low incomes manage to submit applications and receive such compensations,” said Minister Valentina Buliga. A sum of 23 million lei is needed to increase the cold-month assistance. 3 million lei of this sum for this year will be allocated after the budget is rectified in a Government meeting next week.
