During many years, the Government's official website contained the abbreviation MD meaning 'the Moldovan language'. The previous days, it was replaced with RO meaning 'the Romanian language'. The abbreviation was changed in the references to the language on the official websites of the Parliament and the Government, Info-Prim Neo. The abbreviation RO is also present on the websites of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education. But the websites of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and even the Ministry of Culture contain the abbreviation MD. Since 1989 until the modification of the Constitution by the Agrarians, Romanian had been the official language of Moldova. Currently, Article 13 of the Constitution says that Moldovan is the official language. Linguists say the native people of Moldova speak Romanian.
