The executive will provide compensations for electricity to persons on low incomes, Prime Minister Vlad Filat promised. “We will take measures to help and protect those on low incomes,” the Premier said in a press briefing on Friday, April 15, Info-Prim Neo reports. The National Agency for Energy Regulation on April 15 approved new electricity tariffs for end-users. For the first time, there were set differentiated tariffs. The highest charges will be paid by the consumers supplied by RED Nord and RED Nord-Vest through low voltage power lines - 1.57 lei/kWh. The lowest tariff – 1.07 lei/kWh – will be paid by the customers of RED Union Fenosa connected to high voltage power lines. The tariffs for end-users were increased following the rise in the average purchase price of electric power, the power transportation tariff and the costs for maintaining the power distribution networks. The new tariffs will take effect after they are published in the Official Gazette.
