The executive suggested that the legislative body should ratify the agreement with the NATO Maintenance and Supply Organization (NAMSO) on the destruction of pesticides and dangerous chemicals that was signed in Brussels on June 22, 2011, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the Government’s meeting, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta said 1 949 tonnes of pesticides concentrated in 23 central district stores are to be destroyed under this agreement.
At the first stage, the Government will contribute €320,000, while at the second stage - €175,000, during 2011-2012. The local authorities of the districts were the stores are located will also contribute money.
As many as 3 245 tonnes of pesticides were repacked, transported and safely stored within the Moldova – NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan, with support from the UK. There was established the nature of the pesticides in 37 central district stores. The remaining 1 949 tonnes kept in 23 stores are to be destroyed in accordance with the agreement with NAMSO.
