Government transmits encyclopedia about national symbols to schools

The executive will distribute by a copy of the encyclopedia “National Symbols of the Republic of Moldova” to all the education institutions of the country, on the occasion of the Flag Day, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
The book was published in 2011 by the Institute of Encyclopedic Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova following the events held to mark the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the blue-yellow-red tricolor as Moldova’s state flag.
The encyclopedia describes the national-state symbols, including the coat of arms, the flag and anthem of Moldova, and the history of the appearance and adoption of the given symbols.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat expressed his conviction that the studying of the national symbols will contribute to the education of the young generation on the authentic national values, while those interested will find important information about the state symbols.
The 2,000 encyclopedias will be used at classes centering on the state flag, coat of arms and anthem and in extracurricular activities.
Moldova marks the Flag Day on April 27.
