“See you in court,” the Government’s spokesman Daniel Voda said when he was asked about the Chisinau City Hall’s decision to sue the Cabinet and the Ministry of Finance, IPN reports.
“It should be very clear that all citizens, from north to south, from east to west, contribute through taxes to the country’s budget. They contribute through taxes to the welfare of this state. These taxes do not belong to Ivan Ceban (Ion Ceban, mayor of Chisinau, e.n.). They do not belong to the local authorities or the executive. This money belongs to the country,” Daniel Voda told a press conference.
According to him, the initiative proposed by the mayor general suggests that particular districts and localities should be left without funding, that particular villages and towns should not receive subsidies. This is an absolutely incorrect formula that leads nowhere. “The Government will defend, including in court, if this is what a person with political ambitions wants, the interests of all citizens, people of this country, who contribute diligently, not only in one locality, but all over the country,” stated the spokesman.
The Chisinau City Hall announced that it had sued the Cabinet and the Ministry of Finance. According to mayor Ion Ceban, they want these institutions to be obliged to pay the debt of over half a billion lei created in the municipal budget as a result of the delegation of additional powers to LPA Chisinau without financial coverage.
