Govt okays youth strategy

The Government endorsed a draft decision on a youth strategy 2009- 2013, on December 24. Education and Youth Minister Larisa Savga said it was an important document for those 925,000 Moldovan youths, accounting for a third of the population, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The document has been consulted with youth NGOs and local officials responsible for the youth issues. The final variant of the strategy was endorsed by the National Youth Forum last November, the Minister said.
The strategy highlights five key objectives: the youth's access to information, the access to education, the access to health and social services, engaging the youth in public life and access to jobs.
The Strategy is to be okayed by the Parliament.
At a news conference hosted by Info-Prim Neo news agency on December 24, two days ahead of a forum in Chisinau to draw the results of the Youth Year, four young men criticized the Government's youth policies, calling them populist actions in an pre-electoral year.
