The Government will compensate employers for two days of sick leave that employees may request after getting the coronavirus vaccine. Compensations will also be offered for the days off given to employees with children under 12 or children with disabilities when education goes online.
Marcel Spatari, Minister of Labor and Social Protection, said the measures approved today by the Government are intended to stimulate employers to offer days off during the pandemic. This applies to situations when the educational process is moved online, but not when students are on vacation, even extended. In order for employees to benefit from days off, the consent of the employer is required, according to the Labor Code. What is introduced by the decision of the Government today is the compensation of employers.
In particular, employers will be able to give employees two days off for each dose of vaccine against the new coronavirus administered during the state of emergency in public health. These short leaves will be covered by the state budget.
In case of technical unemployment or if children under 12 or with disabilities go online, there is an upper limit for the subsidy from the state budget - 150 lei per day. At the same time, in the case of days off for vaccination, an increased limit of 450 lei per day is available.
“The measure is innovative and the mechanism is implemented for the first time. The process will be fully automated, and employers who will grant these rights to employees will submit a request on the portal reportare.gov.md. The process of application, examination and provision will be extensively adjusted. The payments will be made by the National Social Insurance Company and by the State Fiscal Service”, said Spatari.
