The “Moldova Sustainable Green Cities” UNDP Project is launching a grant program to support new and innovative solutions for modern and environmentally friendly urban development. The grant amount offered under the Fast Track Challenge Program is up to $8,000 each. The initiatives may be submitted by legal entities registered in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a press release of UNDP Moldova.
Participants in the contest must cover at least 30% of their own contribution from the total value of the submitted project. The project proposals accepted in the competition shall cover the following thematic areas: urban mobility; waste management, energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, and sustainable urban planning.
“We support financially innovative initiatives that respond to the challenges of urbanization and aim to increase people's comfort, but also to have a positive impact on the environment. We will finance the initiatives that can be implemented in a short period of time and provide tangible results quickly,” said Alexandru Rotaru, Project Manager at UNDP Moldova.
The submitted projects will be implemented within a maximum period of nine months. Partnerships with NGOs, companies or public institutions will be considered an asset. The conditions for participation and the application guide can be found accessing this link. The deadline for submitting the project proposals is October 31, 2018.
In 2018, four project initiatives will benefit from funding. The Fast Track Challenge Program will be launched also during 2019-2021.
The “Moldova Sustainable Green Cities” Project, with a five-year duration (2018-2022), has a budget of approx. $2.6 million provided by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and co-funded by UNDP with $80,000.
