The local public authorities of the first level, in concert with associations or members of the diaspora, associations of natives of Moldova, initiative groups of Moldovans who settled abroad or who returned home, can apply to take part in the DAR “1+3” Diaspora Succeeds at Home Program for 2020. The value of a local development project will not be lower than 300,000 lei, IPN reports.
Financing is intended for such areas as infrastructure (water and sewerage, roads, schools, kindergartens, houses of culture), environmental protection (prevention of pollution, waste management), economic sector (development of region, investments, development of agriculture), energy efficiency (solar panels, street lighting, thermal insulation), culture (protection of heritage, resorts, development of rural tourism, exhibitions and festivals), education (programs for children, sport, innovation, transfer of knowledge and know-how) and social protection (medical centers, social centers, social eateries).
A condition is for the diaspora to undertake to financially support the project. The contribution should represent at least 10% of the project’s value. The local public authorities of the first level will have to make a similar contribution. The Government, through the agency of the State Chancellery, will provide financial support in the form of state budget grants equal to at most 50% of the total value of a local project or at most 250,000 lei.
The call for proposals is open until February 9, twelve o'clock.
