The guarantee for a thing that was bought and then given to a person as a present will automatically pass on to the end-user. An amendment to this effect was endorsed by the parliamentary commission on economy, budget and finance for the second reading of the bill providing for the exclusion of abusive clauses from the contracts between the suppliers and end-users. Speaking about the proposed amendment, the commission’s chairman Veceaslav Ionita has told Info-Prim Neo that the final price of a thing usually includes the guarantee for a certain period. “In our country, this guarantee is lost if the thing is later owned by another person than the one who bought it. Thus, I proposed including a provision to oblige the sellers to transfer the guarantee for the sold goods to the end-user,” he stated. He also said that the bill bans the suppliers from including abusive provisions in the contracts for the supply of goods and provision of services to consumers. “Unfortunately, the companies, especially the monopolists, understand that not all the consumers read the contracts when signing them and thus include clauses that allow them to increase the price of the provided service or change its quality, for example, without informing the end-user,” said Veceaslav Ionita, adding the law covers all the companies, regardless of the legal form of organization. The bill is to be passed by Parliament in second reading.
