Hail affects crops on hundreds of hectares

Rains with hail in the last few days caused considerable damage to farmers in Moldova, affecting crops on hundreds of hectares in a number of districts. Emergencies Service spokesperson Dorina Sochirca told Info-Prim Neo that in Ungheni district, Costiuleni village, almost 300 hectares of crops were destroyed, and in Valea Mare village roughly 320 hectares. Hail also caused damage in Balauresti village, Nisporeni district, where 200 hectares of crops and 45 hectares of orchards were affected. Other affected villages included Ermoclia, Marianca de Jos and Cioburciu in Stefan Voda district. Emergencies teams are deployed in the affected areas to assess the damages.
