The police detained two men aged 26 and 43 residing in the capital city on suspicion that they trafficked large quantities of drugs on the territory of the country. About 20 kilograms of narcotic substances were discovered at the homes of the two, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, one of the suspects frequently traveled abroad to pick up large quantities of drugs from another member of the criminal group, after which he camouflaged them in packages and sent them to the Republic of Moldova. In the country, the other suspect divided the drugs into small packages and stored them in hiding places, especially in the districts of Ialoveni, Hâncești, Strășeni, and Orhei.
Following searches, about 20 kilograms of drugs were seized from suspects’ homes, including 10 kilograms of marijuana, 5 kilograms of hashish, as well as mephedrone, cocaine, Ecstasy pills and hallucinogenic mushrooms.
Drug trafficking carries prison sentences of 7 to 15 years. Arrest warrants were issued for the two men for 30 days.
