Family doctors and medical assistants from 68 health centers and 211 family doctor’s offices from ten districts covered by the project “Healthy Life: Reduction of Burden of Non-Communicable Diseases” will get masks, gloves and disinfectants for ensuring protection against COVID-19, the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova says in a press release that is quoted by IPN.
The donation consists of 63,700 disposable medical latex gloves, 54,600 disposable nitrile gloves and 760 liters of disinfectant for hands and surfaces. The action was coordination with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
The items will be delivered to the health centers where they will be officially distributed to family doctors in the ten districts in two tranches, as from March 25 and as from March 31.
The project “Healthy Life: Reduction of Burden of Non-Communicable Diseases” focuses on the reduction of the burden of non-communicable diseases and the persons who suffer from such diseases, mainly adults older than 65, form part of the group facing increased risks of catching COVID-19.
The project covers the districts of Fălești, Ungheni, Ștefan Vodă, Cahul, Orhei, Criuleni, Taraclia, Vulcănești, Edineț, and Briceni. It is financed by the Swiss Cooperation Office and is implemented by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. Switzerland is the largest bilateral donor of grants to Moldova’s health sector.
