Health insurance premiums can be paid by October 31

Land owners will be able to pay the health insurance premiums until October 31. The Government extended the term by introducing amendments to the Law on the Mandatory Health Insurance Funds, Info-Prim Neo reports. The reduction of 75% of the insurance premium is maintained for this category of payers until October 31. After this date, there will be imposed fines for nonpayment, which will vary between 500 and 1 100 lei, and penalties of 0.1% of the overdue sum for every late day. The fixed insurance premium for 2011 paid by private individuals was set at 2 772 lei. According to Micea Buga, director general of the National Health Insurance House, the fixed insurance premiums collected in the first half of the year totaled about 53.5 million lei, up 54.3% (18.8 million lei) compared with the corresponding period last year. Micea Buga said the rise is due to the concessions granted to the payers in the first three months of the coming into force of the law and to the increasing interest of the population in mandatory health insurance polices.
