Nineteen persons were admitted to the hospital and one man died after suffering food poisoning at a wedding party given at a restaurant in Chisinau on September 7. They are from different settlements of the country. The doctors reported 27 cases of poisoning, but a part of the persons asked for treatment at home, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Health, the wedding party involved 140 people from Chisinau and from the districts of Ungheni, Straseni, Calarasi, and Leova. Seventeen cases of food poisoning were recorded in Ungheni district, including a case of death. Seven persons poisoned themselves in the municipality of Chisinau, two in Calarasi district and one person in Straseni district. The sick persons associated the appearance of the disease with eating unsafe food products. The state of the other patients is medium or slightly grave. Epidemiologists continue to investigate the case.
The Public Health Center of Chisinau municipality informed that salmonella enteritidis was identified both in the hospitalized patients and in the personnel of the investigated restaurant as a result of lab analyses. The bacterium was also found in the taken samples of poultry.
