The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said the statements made by the ex-head of the COVID-19 Section in Cahul are “individual”. An assessment and support commission was set up at the Ministry. This will travel to Cahul to formulate impartial opinions about the situation there, Svetlana Lupu, head of the Ministry’s Hospital Medical Assistance Policies Division, was quoted by IPN as saying in a news conference.
Information was also requested from the manager of the hospital and the founder so as to clarify the positions. “When we receive all the data, we will inform you about the results of the investigation,” said Svetlana Lupu.
The head of the COVID-19 Section of the Cahul District Hospital Anatolie Malkov tendered his resignation, arguing he cannot do his job because of the shortage of staff in the section and because of the working conditions there. He noted that he meanwhile dealt himself with the patients, together with a nurse. He accused the hospital’s administration of not becoming involved in the process of treating patients with COVID-19.
