Hearing in Gumenita case postponed again

The hearting in the case of the former municipal police chief Iacob Gumenita has been again put off because the judge fell sick. The previous time, the hearing was postponed as the injured party did not come, Info-Prim Neo reports. The October 18 hearing was attended by the mother of Damian Hancu, one of the young men who were beaten in the Great National Assembly Square on April 7. “I was indignant when I found out about the previous hearing from the press. I was called neither on September 13 nor now. I came without being cited,” said Parascovia Hancu. The woman is representing her son through the Prosecutor’s Office. Damian Hancu, who is the injured party, is studying in France. Parascovia Hancu said she will demand that Iacob Gumenita be punished according to the law. The former deputy police commissioner of Chisinau avoided making statements for the press. The next hearing was scheduled for November 1. Iacob Gumenita is accused of misuse of power during the April 2009 events.
