The hearing in the case of conviction of the former president of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii, Ilan Shor, which was scheduled for September 25, was put off until October 3, 10:30am, IPN reports.

The Cahul Appeals Court said the hearing was postponed because the materials of the criminal case are at the Supreme Court of Justice.

The hearing set for September 21 was also put off, then at the request of the prosecutor in charge of the case, who argued that the case was at the Supreme Court of Justice after the defense asked that this should be transferred to a new court. The defense also requested to replace the panel of judges.

The Chisinau City Court in June 2017 sentenced Ilan Shor to seven years and a half in jail for causing considerable damage to the state by swindle and abuse of trust. The same day, Ilan Shor was released from house arrest and will be under judicial control until a definitive sentence is given to him.

The sentence of the first court was appealed by the prosecution and the defense and by the representative of SA Banca de Economii. The case reached the Chisinau Appeals Court in only six months and in February 2018 was transferred to the Cahul Appeals Court.

In June 2019, immediately after the PDM conceded power, Ilan Shor disappeared from the public sphere. A criminal case over illegal leaving of the country was started against him. On August 15, 2019, Ilan Shor was deprived of parliamentary immunity.
