The parliamentary elections were held correctly, without incidents and vote rigging attempts, and had been well organized, leaders and heavyweights of parties that took part in the electoral race said in the program “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
The president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov said he was satisfied with the way the elections were held, except for some incidents. “We reached a rather promising ending. As to the malfunctioning of the information system, I would have been surprised if something like this hadn’t happened. We are not in Japan and in our conditions, when even the mobile phones do not work in some of our settlements, something like this was expected. As to the crowdedness at the poling place in Moscow, it was evident that those people had been influenced,” he stated.
The deputy head of the Liberal Party Dorin Chirtoaca noted that the polling places were better outfitted this year and were closer to the European standards. “The efforts of the Central Election Commission must be appreciated as the elections were organized appropriately. As regards the failure of the information system, we expected that something like this will happen as this system failed during the trial period too,” he said.
The deputy chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Valeriu Strelet said he is satisfied with the way the elections were conducted. “It is regrettable that the information system failed, but the speculations that the elections had been rigged in this period are groundless. The system probably failed because of the insufficient training of operators. As regards the events in Moscow, they were orchestrated very well. A nephew of mine, who works at a company in Moscow, told me that his employer obliged all the Moldovans working there to go and vote,” he stated.
The chairman of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin also approved of the conduct of the parliamentary elections. “It was a quiet day. The elections were organized properly. It’s a pity that a higher number of poling places hadn’t been established in Russia and many people could not vote there,” he said.
The chairman of the Party of Communists Igor Dodon said yet that there were identified a number of violations and cases of vote rigging. “We prepared a number of challenges for tomorrow. Only 3,000 Moldovans of those 800,000 who are in Russia could exercise their right to vote,” he stated.
