Heavy rain causes havoc in parts of Moldova

The torrential rain and hail of the last two days flooded houses and roads and ruined hectares of crops. Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcanu has told Info-Prim Neo that Cantemir and Floresti districts were the worst affected. In Samalia, Cantemir, the rain damaged a road section and flooded four houses. About 40 hectares of corn were ruined. Over 100 hectares of corn and 40 hectares of sunflower were damaged in Putinesti, Floresti. A bridge was destroyed and a basement was inundated. The weather forecasters issued a yellow code advisory for Wednesday and Thursday, anticipating heavy rain with thunder and lightning, in parts also with hail and high winds of 15-18 m/s.
