The Moldovan homes of culture will be outfitted with equipment and repaired by 2020. The plan of action of the Culture Strategy 2020 defines real tasks for every year of this period. Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postica has told IPN that the development of the infrastructure of cultural institutions is a priority as these institutions work according to a Soviet system and need to be modernized.
“The homes of culture work according to an old, Soviet system and principles. They do not receive sufficient financial resources. About half of these homes are damaged or are in a deplorable state,” said the deputy minister, adding that the homes of culture now provide only certain types of artistic activities. The new strategy proposes transforming them into multifunctional community center that will offer information and will serve the public interests in a broader meaning.
There will be approved new regulations of the homes of culture that will include all the services that the institutions will provide.
Gheorghe Postica said that the libraries, theater-concert institutions and museums will be repaired and equipped in the same way.
Under the strategy, the Ministry of Culture and the local public authorities will create a system for conserving and protecting the cultural patrimony in accordance with the international standards so that the national heritage is 100% protected by 2020. There will be also set up virtual networks of cultural institutions and products so that all the collections of museums and libraries are digitized by 2020.
The Culture Strategy was approved recently by the Government and is to be adopted by Parliament.
