Public hospitals in Chisinau will have a joint management in order to reduce expenses that instead of bringing benefits for patients and doctors only ensure the directors’ comfort. The statement was made by Minister of Health Andrei Usatai during a press conference on Wednesday, December 26, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Hospital directors are used to having a car pick them up from home to work, with fuel paid by the state, with a secretary from the state, with a driver from the state, are used to having departments of personal purchases. These services will now be common for three or four institutions within the joint administrative management”, said the Minister. Andrei Usatai assured that no one would be fired as a result of the reform. Two of three directors will simply be deprived of the right to sign and seal documents, but will still organize and offer medical services. According to Usatai, the reform will save 10-12 million lei yearly, money that will be used to buy modern medical equipment for the healthcare system. The Hospital of Infectious Diseases “Toma Ciorba” will have joint management with the Hospital of Dermatology and Communicable Maladies. The Institute of Scientific Research in the Field of Protecting the Health of Mother and Child will be reorganized through the absorption of the National Center of Reproductive Health and Medical Genetics, while the National Clinic Hospital will be reorganized through the absorption of the Scientific-Practical Center of Cardiovascular Surgery.
