'Hunt' for drunken drivers

About 7% of the accidents that happened on the national roads so far this year were caused by inebriated drivers. The data were presented in the context of the special operation “Bahus” that is carried out between September 25 and October 24, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Traffic Police Division spokeswoman Dana Andronic said the drivers whose blood contains over 0.3 g/l of alcohol are liable to a fine of 12,000 to 20,000 lei, 200 to 240 hours of community service or up to four years' imprisonment. The drivers are deprived of license for a period of three to five years.
The 1,886 road accidents that occurred in Moldova since the start of this year resulted in 255 deaths.
