The folk studio “Iedera” (“Ivy”) managed by the Osoianu sisters has released two CDs on the 25th anniversary of its foundation, Info-Prim Neo reports.
These are the first professional CDs. The first CD titled “Come in, My Relative” contains 21 songs of different genres: doinas, ballads, lullabies, party songs, etc. The second one, “The Song is Like the Ivy”, includes 25 songs accompanied by the folk music orchestra “Folklore”, conducted by Master Petre Neamtu. All the songs form part of the studio’s repertoire.
At the launch of the CDs on Friday, the studio’s director Elena Osoianu said that the young artists want new songs to go on folk tours throughout the country. “We want to have costumes for festive and less festive events and a fund of folk songs,” Elena Osoianu said.
Folklorist Andrei Tamazlacaru said that the Osoianu sisters are the ‘prima donnas’ of the Moldovan folklore. “Iedera” has produced a lot of songs. This studio managed to promote our folklore abroad. The Osoianu sisters know how to make the soul relax through songs,” Tamazlacaru said.
The CDs were issued on the initiative of Varvara Buzila, president of the Ethnology Society of Moldova. “Even the professional studios cannot do what this studio achieved. We decided to implement this project because we are obliged to respect and promote the folkloric inheritance,” Varvara Buzila said. According to her, the songs were included in the CDs not accidentally. They represent doinas, ballads, party songs and other genres.
The CDs were issued in ten copies each. “They were brought out not for commercial purposes, but for folklore researchers. They are available from the Ethnology Society,” Varvara Buzila said.
The folk studio “Iedera” is attended by more than 120 children aged between 2 and 20.
The launch of the CDs took place at the National Center for Children and Youth “Artico”. The United States Embassy in Chisinau contributed to their appearance.
