On the second day of his visit to the United States, Head of Parliament Igor Corman had meetings with a number of U.S. officials, within which he pleaded for building a strategic partnership relationship between the two states so as to support Moldova in this important development period, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from Parliament, Igor Corman expressed his gratitude to the U.S. for the support provided to Moldova in its modernization efforts. For their part, the U.S. officials approved of the reform agenda, saying they will continue to support the country’s modernization and democratization efforts.
The Speaker, together with other Moldovan MPs, took part in an event organized by the Friends of Moldova Group in American Congress “Congressional Moldova Caucus”, which was themed “The Republic of Moldova post-Vilnius. Path to follow”. It was held in the Congress’ Library. Igor Corman addressed a message to the members of the Group, thanking them for their contribution to developing the relations between Moldova and the U.S.
The visit to the U.S. will be followed by another one to Canada, between February 27 and March 1.
