The executive director of the Association for Participatory Democracy (ADEPT) Igor Botan said that President Igor Dodon delivered none of the six promises he made for the first 100 days in office. The problem of Moldovan migrants and lifting of the bans on entering Russia imposed on these were the only subjects that he raised, IPN reports.

In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the analyst said no important documents will be signed as a result of the agreement concerning Moldovan migrants. “Mister Dodon actually promised a new friendship agreement, a basic agreement with the Russian Federation. As regards the Transnistrian issue, we saw what Krasnoselski responded to him: the country’s reunification is out of question. As to the European dimension, no positive result was achieved as regards the two trilateral arrangements - on the review of the Association Agreement with Russia’s participation and on the international grantee for the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova,” said the ADEPT director.

Igor Botan noted that causing of early parliamentary elections was the most important promise made and the President thus asks for powers in this regard. Therefore, Dodon admits that he lied to the voters when he made relevant promises. On the other hand, it is evident that an agreement was reached as to the appointment and recall of ambassadors. The distribution of the posts of ambassador was a part of the secret protocol signed by the components of the Alliance for European Integration.

Asked how the presidential administration and the Democratic Party, in particular, now get along, Igor Botan said they get on well. “It is a form of cohabitation that I call political cartel and this is described as such in politological literature, which says that the opposition and the government in the current world get on well to the detriment of other potential players, and this is evident. I gave as example the distribution of the posts of ambassador,” stated Igor Botan.

The analyst considers the Democratic Party and the Party of Socialists remain opponents for the future legislative elections and the competition between them here is real as they aim to obtain influential tools of the political power. As to the uninominal voting system proposed by the Democrats, Igor Botan said normally, if the Party of Socialists was sure that the elections based on uninominal voting would be free and fair, it would surely support this initiative. International experience shows that where there are dominant parties, these benefit from uninominal voting the most.

Among the six promises made by the Head of State for the first 100 days are the restoration of the strategic partnership with Russia, organization of early parliamentary elections, initiation of actions to reunify the country, ensuring of peace and banning of unionism.
