The geopolitical conflict between the East and the West is in full swing. If they become involved in international political games, the Republic of Moldova and its citizens will only lose, President Igor Dodon was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel.
President Dodon said both the West and the Russian Federation need particular success stories. His task as President is to persuade Russia and the West that the Republic of Moldova should be the point where these could come to terms. “I think that after the investiture of Vladimir Putin as President of the Russian Federation, things will calm down and points of tangency will be looked for. I hope a lot that the Republic of Moldova will be a common point where an agreement between the West and the Russian Federation could be reached,” he stated.
President Dodon stated his viewpoint on the path that Moldova should cover in the immediate future. “It should remain neutral and we should do our utmost to resolve the Transnistrian dispute. We should reunify the country and show to everyone that we can reach a consensus. If I manage to do this during the next year or one year and a half, I will consider that my mission in the Republic of Moldova, at least at the first stage, was accomplished. With such a common agenda, Moldova’s reunification will start. We have a lot of problems, but the country’s reunification can make the people hopeful that the country has a future,” noted Igor Dodon.
