Igor Dodon thanked the persons who voted for him in the June 5 elections and expressed his surprise at the delay in presenting the final results of the elections in Chisinau municipality, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué issued by the Communist candidate’s electoral staff. “First of all, I express my gratitude to all the residents of Chisinau who supported me on June 5, showing thus that they want the capital city to be modernized and that they can vote according to rational criteria for a professional manager. I thank all the electors, no matter how they voted, for fulfilling their duty and showing that they care about the future of the city. Secondly, I’m surprised that the Central Election Commission has not yet presented the election outcome, making us doubt the accuracy of the vote count,” Igor Dodon says in his message. The candidate enumerated a number of factors that, according to him, arouse suspicion. “The results of an aberrant exit poll with psychological manipulation effects; attempts to falsify and rig the vote; the parallel vote count performed by NGOs whose impartiality is disputable; hysterical anxiety in the Liberal Party; lack of clear and firm signals on the part of the CEC; the delay in presenting the final figures make us suspect that attempts are made to systemically falsify the elections in the municipality of Chisinau,” said Igor Dodon. He reiterated that the PCRM will not allow stealing its victory in the elections. “The people wanted the campaign to end in the first round and many of them are ready to protest against vote rigging. We demand that the final results be made public swiftly and that steps are taken to prevent the fixing of the elections that became a political conspiracy of a declining alliance against the choice of the largest part of the population of Chisinau and the whole country,” said Igor Dodon. According to the information provided by the CEC after counting 43.33% of the votes in Chisinau municipality, Igor Dodon is in the lead with 51.59%, while Dorin Chirtoaca polled 43.96% of the vote.
