The former head of the Customs Service Igor Talmazan is to be appointed secretary general of the legislative body. The Parliament’s commission on legal affairs, appointments and immunities accepted his candidacy, IPN reports.

Under the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, the secretary general of the legislature is appointed by the Speaker of Parliament after consulting the Standing Bureau and the commission on legal affairs, appointments and immunities. The secretary general will be assisted by deputies to whom he may delegate a part of his duties.

The candidate is to be now examined by the Standing Bureau and the administrative document on the appointment will be issued then.

Igor Talmazan held the position of director of the Customs Service between September 2021 and November 2022. He was reappointed in February 2023, but in April 2024 he tendered his honorary resignation after seven customs inspectors of the Airport Customs Post started to be investigated for corruption.
