The flow of travelers at the border has increased, especially at the Chisinau International Airport, where, due to the large number of flights and to the limited capacity of the airport infrastructure, the departures area is crowded during particular periods of time. The Border Police said that its employees, the airport employees and also the staff of the other services present are fully involved in managing the increased flows of travelers, IPN reports.

The Border Police noted that they took special measures aimed at easing traffic and minimizing waiting time. More precisely, they increased the number of employees in the front line and also the number of employees responsible for maintaining security and public order. “We note that in the current conditions, given the existing infrastructure of the airport, the processing capacity is about 700 passengers per hour. During particular periods of time, it increases to 1,200 people per hour, much above the existing capacities,” said the institution.

The Chisinau International Airport remains the most demanded state border crossing point that registers over 17,000 crossings daily. Since June, the number of travelers has increased significantly due to the summer season. In order to avoid delays and pass all the checking procedures in a timely manner, individuals are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the departure of the flight. It is also advisable to check all the necessary documents in advance.

A video distributed recently on social networking sights show a young woman complaining that, although she arrived at the airport on time, she was unable to get on the plane due to the large crowd in the check-in area. She noted that the airport employees do not manage the flows of passengers according to the time of the flight so that everyone could get on board.
