All the information about products placed on the market, the inspections carried out and the measures taken will be incorporated into a database. The Cabinet approved the creation of the information and communication system for market surveillance. According to the authorities, it is an essential digital tool for the protection of citizens and the proper functioning of the market, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization said that the necessity of such a system stemmed from the fact that every consumer must have the certainty that what they buy is safe, and the authorities must have the necessary tools to combat dangerous or non-compliant products.

Also, the responsible authorities will have quick access to updated data, facilitating the prompt identification and withdrawal of non-compliant products.

Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development, noted that the system will allow to efficiently survey nonfood products and to ensure that safety standards are observed. The system will also provide a quick response to any problem, as it will allow for the immediate identification of non-compliant products and action to be taken before they reach consumers.
