Inmate commits suicide in restroom

An inmate of Penitentiary no.13 in Chisinau was found hanged in the common restroom of the regime block. The man was 23 years of age and had been sentenced to 11 years in jail for rape, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Correctional Institutions Department, the man hanged himself with a handmade rope tied to a metal pipe.
The Center Police Commissariat officers have been notified. According to the forensic doctor, the death was caused by strangulation. Otherwise, there were no signs of violent death.
The penitentiary's administration started an internal investigation on this case.
