The Contravention Code is to be completed with two new articles. It goes to insulting of teaching staff and unauthorized access to the educational institution for which penalties will be stipulated. Minister of Education Dan Perciun wrote about this on Facebook, noting that he would ask Parliament for support in this regard, IPN reports.

Thus, according to the official, the insulting of teaching, scientific-teaching and scientific staff or of an educational institution worker, i.e. premeditated harming of their honor, dignity or professional reputation while these are fulfilling their duties will be punished with a fine of 500 to 1,250 lei imposed on the individual.

Also, the insulting of teaching, scientific-teaching and scientific staff or of an educational institution worker accompanied by acts of hooliganism and/or bodily injury, if these actions do not constitute a crime, will be punished with a fine of 2,500 to 7,500 lei imposed on the individual or with up to 15 days of arrest.

“The unauthorized access to educational institutions and insulting of teaching staff must be penalized. The harassment of teachers and school principals is unacceptable and leads to serious consequences. In Estonia, where we are currently alongside counterparts, and in most of the civilized world no one enters the school without an appointment,” said Dan Perciun.
