INTERPOL secretary general Jürgen Stock thanked the police of Moldova for the considerable contribution to regional security, noting that Moldova is one of the most dynamic and active members of the International Criminal Police Organization of the region, which uses instruments and services provided by the Organization, especially databases. The statement was made in a meeting with Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan held on the sidelines of the 85th INTERPOL General Assembly that brought together in Bali ministers of the interior, police chiefs and security experts from 164 countries, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of the Interior of Moldova, Alexandru Jizdan spoke about the Ministry’s initiatives to fight phenomena that affect not only the Republic of Moldova, but each society worldwide and the support offered by INTERPOL, which contributed to strengthening the cooperation relations between the Moldovan police and the law enforcement authorities of the world.
The minister also informed about the measures taken to fight corruption and other initiatives that were approved of by Jürgen Stock. The INTERPOL secretary general expressed readiness to provide assistance in implementing these.
The interlocutors also discussed the international police cooperation in combing transfrontier crime, efficient exchange of operational information and the results achieved by INTERPOL in the cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and the law enforcement agencies of Moldova.
