The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban is convinced that he managed to familiarize the people with his view and the view of his team concerning the solutions to the problems faced by the municipality. This means that the people’s vote will be conscious and will be given not to a person, but to a program whose implementation will transform Chisinau into a modern capital city. The candidate made such statements in a news conference held to sum up the results of the election campaign, IPN reports.
Ion Ceban said he renounced the seat of MP and chose the seat of municipal councilor because he cares for Chisinau and its citizens and devoted his whole activity to solving the city’s problems while in the opposition and working in very harsh conditions. For the same reason he decided to run for mayor. “I promise you that the problems of Chisinau will be solved, the roads will be repaired, there will be order on the streets of Chisinau and the municipality will start the cold season well prepared. A good mayor for winter is chosen in summer,” stated the candidate.
He noted he regrets that he didn’t have enough rounds of debates face to face with his opponent as this would have enabled the people to see which of the candidates and to what extent knows the problems of the capital city and what solutions they have for these.
The Socialist candidate reiterated that if he is elected mayor, he will suspend his membership in the Party of Socialists for the period of the mayoralty. In another development, he said his opponent Andrei Nastase uses the election campaign preceding the mayoral elections as an exercise for this autumn’s parliamentary elections as he wants to enter Parliament, while he does not have such aspirations.
