The Socialist councilors on the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) will continue to support only decisions related to the budget and social initiatives and will insist on consulting civil society about the draft decisions, councilor Ion Ceban was quoted by IPN as saying in a press briefing.
According to the data presented in the briefing, this year the Socialist group on the CMC has presented 114 social and economic initiatives to the Council, held over 1,000 audiences and received more than 3,600 petitions from people.
Commenting on the results of the referendum on the dismissal of the mayor general of Chisinau, Ion Ceban said the Democratic Party took control of the City Hall and this is due to those who urged the citizens to boycott the local plebiscite.
“We tried to be maximally apolitical in this campaign. We focused only on the poor administration and on what should happen if the referendum fails,” stated Ion Ceban.
He reiterated that the Socialist councilors on the CMC will continue to work for the benefit of the citizens of Chisinau municipality, regardless of their political preferences.
