Prime Minister Ion Chicu instructed Minister of the Interior Pavel Voicu to think up measures to consolidate the post of sector police officer and to support this category of policemen until February 15, IPN reports.
Premier Chicu said the sector police officer knows best the problems faced by the people in the locality and their concerns. He addressed the issue in the wake of the recent incident in Costești, where a young man was beaten to death.
Pavel Voicu promised that this and other cases, including the one that involves a carabineer, are under examination and the assertions that they try to hush things up are not true. It is a criminal case that needs to be investigated thoroughly.
In another development, Premier Chicu said the first instrument for monitoring the implementation of the Government’s action plan approved at one of the recent meetings was already designed. This instrument and the monitoring results or the progress made in implementation will be published on the Government’s official website.
Chicu also addressed again the issue of transparency in selling valuable facilities owned by the state, underlining the necessity of informing about the planned privatization of large companies situated in the region, which can make investments and bring new technologies.
The Cabinet meeting started with a moment’s silence in memory of the late singer Stefan Petrache, who died on the night of January 13.
