President Nicolae Timofti will maintain his position and will reject the candidature of Vlad Plahotniuc for premiership the second time too, businessman Ion Sturza, former candidate for Prime Minister, said in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
Ion Sturza noted that Parliament will most probably resort to a harsh process of impeachment on January 14. “According to my information, more MPs will join those who signed for designating Plahotniuc. But the head of state will not yield. He is not alone in his resistance to Plahotniuc. There is a much larger front,” he stated.
The former candidate considers that Plahotniuc’s insistent wish to become Prime Minister is not a healthy one. “I am shocked at the insistence by which Plahotniuc is trying to force things. Even persons close to him say that this lives in a parallel word, detached from the reality. There could be influence form outside too, while the unexpected visit paid to Dubai wasn’t probably accidental. I think Plahotniuc has now the last chance to get onto a train alone and leave Moldova. Later others will take him on,” stated Ion Sturza.
He added that there are now two possible scenarios in Moldova. “In the best case, we will have early legislative elections, but altercations are not excluded,” he said.
Ion Sturza noted he will accept to run for premiership again if Nicolae Timofti offers him to do this.
