The interim director of JSC Termoelectrica Yurie Razlovan announced that when he took over, he found that success bonuses to the value of over 5 million lei were unjustifiably paid at the company to particular administrators of municipal housing sector management enterprises that are in the process of insolvency. According to him, legal action was taken to recover this amount, IPN reports.

In a press conference, Yurie Razlovan said that as far as fuel oil is concerned, internal examinations showed that a significant amount was stored incorrectly. Disciplinary sanctions were imposed in this regard. Another irregularity was the fact that the process of testing and accepting chemical reagents was unduly delayed. This affected the preparations for the cold season. The responsible persons were penalized.

Also, discrepancies of over 7 million lei were discovered during the inventories carried out. Complaints were filed to the competent bodies to recover these amounts.

In order to combat illegalities and prevent them, the Company Board and the General Meeting of Shareholders revised and approved in the new wording the Corporate Governance Code, the Regulations of the Company Board and the Regulations of the Board of Censors.

The company’s net losses decreased from 232.9 million lei in 2022 to 43.0 million lei in 2023. According to the acting director, this was possible due to the adjustment of prices and tariffs, as well as the optimization of operational costs.

In 2023-2024, thermal energy charges and electricity prices followed a downward trend. The heat charge decreased by 1,753 lei/Gcal - from 3577 lei/Gcal to 1,824 lei/Gcal or by 49%. The price of electricity declined by 2.03 lei/kWh, from 403 lei/Gcal to 200 lei/Gcal or by 50%.
