The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is launching the national contest “IT Youth – the Future Starts with You”. The 30 winners that will be selected in five areas will receive prizes, including computers, accessories and scholarships, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Ministry. “We aim to develop the information technologies in Moldova. Regardless of the economic, local and international situation, we must make everything possible to develop the young people, in our case those who are interested in IT,” said ICT Minister Alexandru Oleinic. There will be selected young people who will work out or already work on ICT projects. Among the selection criteria are the originality of the idea, the implementation level, the particularities for Moldova, if the project helps solve a problem, facilitates or improves certain systems, etc. Minister Alexandru Oleinic proposed offering 100 young people the possibility of going to a summer camp, where they could meet and discuss with IT experts. At the summer camp, a jury composed of representatives of the ICT Ministry, IT companies and youth NGOs will assess the projects proposed by the participants and choose the winners. The nationwide contest is open to ninth-eleventh graders and first- and second-year university students. The participation conditions will be made public on April 14.
