The democratic process was not interrupted on April 7, 2009 and this is important, said analyst Victor Gurau. He stated for Info-Prim Neo that not many civilians and police officers were injured in those protests and this points to the maturity of the then Communist administration.
“The political class prevented the democratic process from being interrupted. The former government accepted the people's choice and left as one should in a democracy. If we had had an immature administration, the terror and dictatorial elements might have had another direction,” said Victor Gurau. According to him, the then government showed its weakness when it could not coordinate the police and police officers were hurt.
The analyst said the organizers of the April 7 protests have not been yet identified because there is no political will. He considers that the truth is somewhere in the middle, between the statements of the ruling alliance and of the Opposition.
Victor Gurau also said that certain scenarios were tested during those protests, which were later used in other countries. He stressed that the socialization websites played an important role in the mobilization of young people in central Chisinau.
