A number of 300,000 ballots will be issued to the electoral bureaus situated outside Moldova for the November 30 parliamentary elections, the president of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Iurie Ciocan said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

Ciocan said that 100 electoral bureaus will be set up outside Moldova and each bureau will receive a maximum number of 3,000 ballots. “Earlier, the number of ballots was ordered by ambassadors. This time we decided to provide the highest number of ballots so as to make sure that all the Moldovan nationals abroad are able to cast their votes,” he stated.

According to the CEC president, the implementation of the electronic voting system will eliminate any chance of multiple voting. “By two computers will be installed in every polling place. They will be connected to the Commission’s system by a secured channel so as to prevent possible cyber attacks. When the voters enter the polling place, their personal identification code consisting of 13 digits will be put into the computer. In several seconds, all the information about the voters will appear on the screen. If it turns out that they already voted, the police will be asked to intervene. This system will be very opportune for the residents from the left side of the Nistru, who were not included on the electoral register, and for those from outside the country, who may not find themselves on the lists,” said Iurie Ciocan.

He also said that when the elections are over, the computers will be kept for several months in storerooms and will be then used in the local elections of next year. Afterward, they will be distributed to schools. “It’s not logical to keep the computers for another for years as they will become outdated in this period,” stated Ciocan.

The CEC president noted that electoral rolls will be anyway compiled and the voters will put their signatures on them and the stamp “Voted” will be put on the loose leaves of the identity cards.
