Ex-Premier Iurie Leanca, commenting on the statements of former National Anticorruption Center employee Mihail Gofman, said he has nothing to be afraid of. “As regards my possible arrest about which all those who are not lazy speak in this country, I want to say it simply – I have nothing to be afraid of and there is nothing because of which I should hide,” Iurie Leanca stated in a press briefing, quoted by IPN.

The leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) said that after he left the Liberal Democratic Party, he was regularly subject to orchestrated attacks, but after the PPEM fielded him for the presidency, the attacks became even more calumnious and a denigration campaign was started against him. The attacks come inclusively from so-called political partners with whom he discussed a possible common candidate for President. He refused to give names yet.

The politician noted that Mihail Gofman is just an ‘instrument’ used by some who gain benefits from such statements.

According to Iurie Leanca, Mihail Gofman was dismissed by the administration of the National Anticorruption Center in April 2014, at his insistence. He does not rule out the possibility that more personages will be woken up to make denigrating statements.

Iurie Leanca reacted after Mihail Gofman, ex-deputy head of the Money Laundering Prevention and Combating Service of the National Anticorruption Center, stated in a TV program that the list of persons who are to be arrested in the case of the banking frauds was compiled based on political criteria and Iurie Leanca is the next to be arrested.
